This is the website of 'Convict Connections'. We are an Interest Group of the Genealogical Society of Queensland Inc. (www.gsq.org.au).
Our members are constantly endeavouring to discover more about their convict and colonial heritage. We have put this web-site together with information which hopefully will assist you with your own research.
Convict Connections was formed in 1995 as an Interest Group operating within the Genealogical Society of Queensland Inc., and brings together members who are researching their convict and early colonial past. With this common interest we are able to assist one another as we delve further into our early Australian ancestry – and beyond, whether it be back to England or Ireland or a British colonial out-post. The sharing and exchanging of research information between members has been extremely beneficial. The GSQ resource room is made available to us from 10am to 3pm on the second Sunday of every second month. In return, we raise funds to purchase new records relating to the convict and colonial era. Such records include books, microfiche, microfilm and CD's – and are available for the use by all GSQ members at the Resource Centre.
All members of the Genealogical Society of Queensland Inc. are welcome to attend our meetings which are held on the second Sunday of every second month. A talk is presented at each meeting, and usually looks at resources – new and old.
The GSQ Research Centre is located at 38 Fisher St East Brisbane - open 9:am to 3:00pm, with the meeting held at 11:00am.
